Bob Matthews is an Advanced Concepts Engineer for L3Harris Mission Avionics, advocating and architecting MOSA developments for critical pursuits. Bob has a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Maryland and earned his MBA at Florida Tech. He joined the U.S. Army Reserves and served eight years as a CH-47 Chinook Helicopter Mechanic and Flight Engineer. Before joining L3Harris, he enjoyed a twenty-year career as a civil servant with Naval Air Systems Command. While at NAVAIR, Bob led the Avionics Architecture Team that coordinated with Army Aviation and The Open Group to found the FACE Consortium. Bob was elected the inaugural FACE Steering Committee Chair, serving in that role for five years. During that time, Bob and his team also initiated the HOST standard and collaborated with the Air Force, The Open Group and the FACE Consortium to establish the SOSA Consortium. Bob has received multiple Navy and DoD-level awards for his work on Open Architecture.
